Andrew Schanbacher Receives Degree from Buena Vista University

In December 2013, Andrew Schanbacher, from Newhall, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Area students named to Wartburg Dean's List

More than 500 students qualified for the Fall Term Dean’s List at Wartburg College. The 518 students represent 19 U.S. states and 16 foreign countries. They earned a 3.5 grade point average or better (on a 4.0 scale) in at least four course credits for the term. Three of the four course credits must be graded with a traditional letter grade.

Vinton Garden Club learns more about Old Creamery Nature Trail

The Vinton Garden club held their monthly meeting January 29, 2014 at the Vinton Pizza Palace for lunch with Connie McClintock as hostess. Our speakers, Randy Scheel and Ben Bonar spoke after lunch. Randy told us the history of the Old Creamery Nature Trail, listed some of the current uses of the trail, and highlighted the loyal volunteers that keep the trail in good condition.

Mount Mercy University recognizes December 2013 graduates

There are so many places to go in Herndon because everything is so close. It’s like Herndon is plopped right in the middle of all the fun activities. The first week Hickory 5 arrived in Herndon some of the team drove out to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and they got to check out the breathtaking battlefields.

CP Friends of Library speak about Legos, lineage

Center Point Friends of the Library members, at their regular meeting Feb. 6, 2014, reviewed plans for the genealogy/family history workshop they’re sponsoring this month. “Genealogy on a Shoestring” will be taught by local genealogist Bob King and by family history writing instructor Linda Joy Schmidt of Memory Echoes in Cedar Rapids.

Ricky Jeray named to NIACC President's List

North Iowa Area Community College is pleased to announce that 698 individuals have been named to the 2013 Fall Term Dean’s List and President’s List.
