Area Student to attend National event for Women Student Leaders

NCCC Lends Helping Hand at Scattergood Friends School and Coralville Lake

AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) Oak 3 is helping staff at Scattergood Friends School and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the next eight weeks, May 5 - June 30. NCCC members are assisting Scattergood School staff with completing such tasks as maintenance and farm upkeep.
Elise Healzer chosen to attend conference
Iowa N.E.W. Leadership is an intensive 5-day residential institute designed to empower women and increase the participation of underrepresented groups in all sectors of leadership. The Institute experience is built around a challenging curriculum that develops knowledge and skill in key areas, including: strategic communication, policy analysis, philanthropy, negotiation, community development, professional sustainability, relationship-building, productive engagement with difference, conflict and collaboration.
Aaron Koppen Named to Spring 2011 President's List at LeTourneau University
Aaron Koppen of Shellsburg, Iowa, was named to the Spring 2011 President's List at LeTourneau University.
Koppen achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average to receive this honor.
LeTourneau University Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Steven D. Mason said being named to the President's List is a significant academic achievement and honor.

AmeriCorps NCCC Takes Out the Invaders

A team of AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) members is assisting YMCA Storer Camps on a variety of projects for eight weeks between March 17 and May 13, in Jackson. The NCCC team, Cedar 1, is helping remove invasive species and provide outdoor education to children through workshops to restore the grounds and educate the community about the natural area surrounding the camp.
