Michael graduated from Northeastern High School in 2009 and graduated from Ashworth College with his HVAC certificate. He considers himself to be skilled in various tasks like plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, brick masonry and ground maintenance. He also has leadership skills from 4 years of ROTC as well as being Sgt of arms in Job Corps. Before NCCC started, Michael was attending Schenck Job Corps. He found out about NCCC through Job Corps. When asked why he chose to do a term of national service, Michael said, “I want to help others and learn more on skills.” After finishing this year with NCCC, Michael wants to be a Team Leader for NCCC, join the Peace Corps and then enroll into the police academy.
Michael and Cedar 6 are working with Crossroads for Youth in Oxford, Michigan. They are mentoring and educating youth regarding Life Skills, important life experiences gained through field trips and community services, appropriate seasonal activities and crafts, and appropriate recreation. Corps Members are assisting staff with maintaining buildings including roofing, painting and drywall.
