By Fisher Ream On July 16, AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple 2 began their service with Vermont State Parks and All-4-One at the Muckross Day Camp. Maple 2 is helping the Vermont State Parks “to conserve and interpret on behalf of the people of Vermont their natural, cultural, historic and scenic heritage” and Muckross Day Camp “to provide a safe, natural area where any child, regardless of economic or social circumstance, can experience hands-on environmental and outdoor recreation”.

Drivers have been stopping by to gawk, and take photos of, a 20-foot long walleye sculpture that fills Brian Parr's Vinton driveway. The local artist and city council member has recently completed the large fish, and says he is working on a plan to put it on display somewhere near the Cedar River.

By: Angela Sarrels Expect to start seeing some new faces in Vinton. AmeriCorps NCCC welcomed 100 FEMA Corps members on Tuesday, July 25. They came in from all over the country arriving via car and airplane.
