Prairie Creek Christian Church, located between Urbana and Vinton on Highway 150, has the Braille Books of the NIV Bible in their  library. Anyone who would like to come to the church to study or read from them are welcomed.

Iowa’s Electric Cooperatives Sent 37 Students to D.C. for a Week of Leadership Development

Thirty-seven high school students representing Iowa’s locally owned electric cooperatives traveled to Washington, D.C., from June 8-14 and joined more than 1,800 other students from across the nation for the 2018 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour.

Center Point Friends of the Library drew the most perfect day of June for the Garden Walk the 23rd. Host gardens ranged from the jewel box garden of Library neighbor Roberta Heitman to the gigantic conifer-featuring plantings of Craig and Karen Batcheler, who run Interstate Grain Service south of town.

Vinton Teacher to Attend Highly Competitive Gilder Lehrman Institute Seminar

This summer, Kelly Steffen, a high school social studies teacher from Vinton-Shellsburg High School, will travel to the Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, PA to attend a week long professional development seminar entitled “Gettysburg: History and Memory.
