By Akari Iburi Since the beginning of May, Vinton’s AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) team Maple 5 is in an epic invasive species battle with blankets of Alliaria Petiolata (garlic mustard), mangled forests of Rhamnus (buckthorn), and the deceitful yet beautiful blossoms of Hesperis Matronalis (dame’s rocket).

Cooling Dancers Win Awards in Wisconsin Dells

The Joan Cooling Dancers of Vinton competed June 15-16 at the Midwest Starz National Dance Competition.  There were over 1000 winning routines from a five state area, competing in two levels, ‘Starz” and “Rising Starz.
