Two high school juniors have been chosen to represent ECI REC in Washington, D.C., on the Youth Tour this June. The two winners, Jamie Thompson and Kirstie Martin, will visit historical sites, spend a day on Capitol Hill, meet congressional leaders, and more.

VS alum John Lippmann graduates from Law Enforcement Academy

Former Vinton-Shellsburg Viking and Vinton resident John W.D. Lippmann graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on April 16.  His Class, the 267th Basic Unit, completed its 14-week training at the ILEA’s Camp Dodge, in Johnston on April 14; graduation took place at the Iowa National Guard Freedom Center.

Conway named Penquite Scholar at Central

Caitlyn Conway has been named 2016 Geisler Penquite Scholar at Central College and received a scholarship for current and potential leadership in education.
