The Shellsburg American Legion will be holding a Memorial Day Service on May 31 at the Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00 am.  The service will include the 3rd District's Tomb of the Unknown float.

Norval Staton will be celebrating his 88th birthday, Tuesday, May 18th. Norval has spent his life working first at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, and as part of his retirement he's spent his time trimming trees, mowing and several odd jobs around town.

Shellsburg to plant trees to help recover from Derecho Saturday May 8

The Shellsburg Area Community Group (SACG)  was awarded a grant from Trees Forever and Alliant Energy for $8,843 to plant trees.    Like so many communities, Shellsburg suffered a great loss of trees due to last year's derecho.

Fundraising event to help area Woman in her battle with cancer
