Poppy Day, Thursday May 16th

The American Legion Unit 57, will be holding the annual Poppy Day. For each donation you make, you receive a poppy to thank you. Donations are used for the purpose of helping the area Veterans.

Bike Rodeo safety event set for May 7

Along with the warmer springtime weather comes an increase in the number of children with bikes out and about within the community. To make sure that local youth are well educated on proper road etiquette and bicycle safety, the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting its annual 'Bike Safety Rodeo' on Tuesday, May 7th at the Vinton Recreation Center parking lot.

Honor Flight fund-raiser set for May 4, in Iowa City

  On Saturday, May 4, 2013, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #17 will have a fundraising dinner at the Legion Post, with proceeds to benefit the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

Pressure Canner Testing Dates

Pressure canners with a dial-type pressure gauge should be tested each year for accuracy. Rachel Wall, ISU Extension Nutrition and Health Specialist, will be offering testing of dial gauge pressure canners.
