Specialty Crop Farmers, Beekeepers Encouraged to Update Information on Registry
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today encouraged beekeepers and producers of pesticide sensitive crops to register, renew or update their production plots, fields and beehive locations on the Iowa Sensitive Crops Registry. “Specialty crop producers and beekeepers are highly encouraged to register or update their information annually on the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Sensitive Crops Registry,” said Secretary Naig.

Iowa Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program Receives Funding Boost
Program strengthens supply chains and builds connections between Iowa farmers and consumers Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has received an additional $2.9 million for utilization in the Iowa Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program (ILFPA). The statewide program was announced in June of 2022 to facilitate the purchase and distribution of Iowa grown and produced food for use by underserved communities.
$800,000 in Grants Awarded from the Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program
Vinton Express, Inc. in Vinton was one of the locations to receive a $ 50,000.00 grant for their E15 project as part of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program (RFIP) Board. The board approved 15 project applications and 11 supplemental grant requests for a total of more than $800,000 during its quarterly board meeting on May 9. Twelve of the fifteen projects are for E15 infrastructure, three are biodiesel terminals, and the eleven previously funded ethanol projects received supplemental grants of $6,000 each.
