Attorney General Bird Sues ATF over Law on Registration of Guns with Brace
Attorney General Brenna Bird joined 24 other states in a lawsuit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) over a new federal rule requiring gun owners to register their firearms with attached pistol braces, or risk criminal penalties. The ATF explicitly approved pistol braces as legal ten years ago and has since reaffirmed that decision multiple times.

State Auditor Rob Sand today issued an advisory on the delay of Low-Income
Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) payments to eligible recipients.
LIHEAP is a federally funded program administered by the Iowa Department of
Human Rights. It is designed to help households at or below 200% of the 2022
federal poverty guidelines meet their heating needs.
