Precinct Boundaries to be Redrawn

Every 10 years, following the census, district lines, are redrawn across the states to ensure a more equal number of voters in each district. The same happens locally. Boundaries are redrawn in the cities with the same idea. Vinton has begun the process to recreate the precincts adjusting for expansion inside the city limits.PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE                              The City of Vinton will hold a public hearing to discuss proposed changes to ward and precinct boundaries within the City limits.

Benton County approves purchase of 911 Emergency Communications Project

The Benton County Supervisors, Benton County Emergency Management, Benton County Sheriff, Benton County Auditor, and Benton County Attorney all met with representatives of Racom. Racom specializes in communication equipment that is used in 911 services for communities. Racom is the company that will be designing a radio system that will work with all of the emergency services throughout the county.

Dysart awarded $125,000 for Law Enforcement Hiring to Advance Community Policing

 $250,000 Awarded to Law Enforcement Agencies in the Northern District of Iowa The Department of Justice today announced more than $139 million in grant funding through the department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) COPS Hiring Program (CHP). The awards provide direct funding to 183 law enforcement agencies across the nation, allowing those agencies to hire 1,066 additional full-time law enforcement professionals.
