Damien Lawrence Hunt, convicted of Arson 1st Degree and other charges in Pottawattamie County, failed to report back to theDubuque Residential Facility as required yesterday.Hunt is a 38-year-old White male, height 5'9", and weighs 197 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on October 14, 2021.Persons with information on Hunt's whereabouts should contact local police.

Full-time City Employees to receive $500 from America Cares Act Monies

 In Wednesday's business, the council proceeded with approving the agenda and consent agenda then opening it to the citizens for their input. Former Mayor John Watson addressed the council concerning an item on the agenda. Item 9.n, stated, "Approval of resolution to establish premium pay for essential City of Vinton employees using funds received under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021"Watson voiced opposition to the plan to give approximately 40 city employees $500 out of the funds received from the city from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Mayor, 1st and 3rd Ward Council Members Sworn in

Mayor Bud Maynard and Ron Hessenius Following Wednesday evening's City Council meeting, both Bud Maynard, Mayor and 1st Ward Councilman Ron Hessenius were sworn in to serve another term on the Vinton City Council.The Mayor delivered the oath of office to Hessenius while the Vinton City Clerk, Melissa Schwan administered the oath to the Mayor, Bud Maynard.On Thursday morning Valerie Bearbower was sworn in by City Clerk Melissa Schwan as the Third Ward City Council Member.
