Gov. Reynolds signs proclamation that eases transportation rules for propane

Today, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation that temporarily suspends regulatory provisions of Iowa law pertaining to hours of service for crews and drivers hauling propane.  The proclamation is effective immediately and expires on February 5, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.  The proclamation can be found here.

Benton County Deputies involved in Vehicle Pursuit

On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at approximately 12:44 p,m. Benton County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a 2000 White Ford Mustang in the 1500 block of 70th St., Keystone. The vehicle would fail to yield to law enforcement and increase speeds to 90 mph. The suspect vehicle would fail to negotiate a turn onto a gravel road at 13th Avenue and 70th Street.

Van Horne man placed on probation for June incident in Riverside

In July of 2021, the Benton County Sheriff’s Deputies in conjunction with Washington County worked to arrest 37-year-old Scott Christopher Kirk who was in Vinton at the time. Kirk had a warrant out for his arrest on charges of third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle, fourth-degree theft, and fourth-degree criminal mischief. The thefts occurred in Riverside, Iowa.

Governor Reynolds Announces Iowa Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship Grant

 During the 2022 Condition of the State Address, Gov. Reynolds announced the new Iowa Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship Program aimed at both providing high school students with the opportunity to explore health care careers while getting paid and helping to address the health care workforce shortage.

Gov. Reynolds Launches New Teacher and Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship

 Gov. Reynolds announced the launch of a first-in-the-nation Teacher and Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship Grant Program Tuesday during her annual Condition of the State Address.  The grant program will provide opportunities for current high school students to earn a paraeducator certificate and associates degree and paraeducators to earn their bachelor's degree all while learning and working in the classroom.

City of Vinton seeking bids for furnace and air conditioning work

The City of Vinton, Iowa is seeking bids for furnace and air conditioning work for the City Hall building. Bid to include 115,000btu 95% efficiency single stage furnace to also include an updated filter cabinet with a 5 inch filter and new programmable thermostat.Bid to also include 5 ton, 16 SEER single stage air conditioning unit to be replaced on the roof.
