Joni Ernst: Amid COVID-19, all Iowans have a role to play to help seniors

 We’re living in challenging times. But it’s in these trying days that we’ve seen the resilient spirit that makes our state and our people so great.  Some of my favorite stories of Iowans helping Iowans have been the heartwarming acts of kindness folks have shown for our seniors and those most at-risk during this pandemic. I think about the folks at the Cherokee Hy-Vee floral shop, who, knowing the care facilities in the area had closed to visitors, decided to bring a little cheer to the residents.

Additional COVID-19 cases in Iowa, additional deaths confirmed The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 77 additional positive cases for a total of 1,587 positive cases. There have been an additional 383 negative tests for a total of 16,005 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

Additional COVID-19 case in Benton County, additional deaths confirmed in Iowa

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 122 additional positive cases for a total of 1,510 positive cases. There have been an additional 1,057 negative tests for a total of 15,622 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.  According to IDPH, an additional 3 deaths were also reported.

Gov. Reynolds signs new proclamation continuing State Public Health Emergency

Today, Gov. Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration.  The proclamation provides additional regulatory relief necessary to respond to this public health disaster. This includes provisions to give health facilities greater flexibility, remove certain in-person regulatory requirements, and permit community colleges and school districts to adjust to the suspension of in-person instruction.

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 118 additional positive cases for a total of 1,388 positive cases. There have been an additional 862 negative tests for a total of 14,565 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.  According to IDPH, an additional 2 deaths were also reported.

Conditional penalty relief for taxpayers required to make estimated payments

The Iowa Department of Revenue announced today conditional penalty relief for taxpayers required to make estimated payments. The changes, prompted by COVID-19, are the result of Order 2020-03, an order signed by Director of Revenue Kraig Paulsen.Specifically, the order provides conditional penalty relief for taxpayers required to make estimated payments of individual, corporate, or franchise tax for a tax year beginning during the 2020 calendar year which have an installment due date on or after April 30, 2020, and before July 31, 2020.

School Board Meeting Agenda includes Graduate list, Resignations, Budget hearing

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 125 additional positive cases for a total of 1,270 positive cases. There have been an additional 882 negative tests for a total of 13,703 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.  According to IDPH, an additional 2 deaths were also reported.
