City reviews proposed plans to extend J Ave
As part of the plan to obtain the former Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School property, the city has taken several steps to make use of the land. One of the proposed projects is mapping out the future area. Part of that is building streets. The city is beginning to make those plans for J Avenue extending it from 9th to 13th St. The information concerning the needed work and estimate is below.
City begins planning for street repairs (Part 1)
Of the 94 pages of information given out at the last council meeting, the majority of them dealt with the proposed plans to make street improvements in Vinton. The plans are just being tossed around at this time, depending on the budget for next year. Some of the streets will be funded locally while others may be replaced with the help of federal assistance which could delay those streets for another year.
2nd Ward Councilman Search Continues
The City Council is still in need of a volunteer to fill the 2nd Ward seat that failed to have a candidate in the last election. If you are interested in filling this seat, you are urged to contact the mayor or any city council member or attend the next council meeting which would be this Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. If after 14 days of the appointment of a new member, electors of the City of Vinton can file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election.
