Benton County Supervisor Minutes June 7, 2016

June 7, 2016 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present. The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Wiley moved/ Hertle seconded: Approve minutes of May 31, 2016. Motion Carried. Wiley moved/Hertle seconded: Approve payment of checks numbered 219277 through 219452, payroll checks numbered 138757through 138778, and ACH deposits numbered 27644 through 27774, vendor checks numbered 219271 through 219276.

Benton County Republicans to Meet Tuesday, June 14th

The Benton County Republicans monthly meeting is coming up on Tuesday, June 14th, at 7 p.m. at the Van Horne Community Center.  The Community Center is located at 500 1st Ave, Van Horne. Our meeting agenda will include our upcoming fundraiser, county events, primary results, as well as planning for the November election.  Benton County Republicans are invited to attend.

Positions open on Soil & Water Conservation District Commission

Now that you have made it through the primary elections of this cycle, there is one more race to be decided by your ballot in November. Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners will be elected in 100 districts throughout Iowa this November. These elected volunteers have been working with voluntary, private land soil and water conservation in Iowa since 1939.

May 31, 2016 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present.  The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Wiley moved/ Hertle seconded:  Approve minutes of May 24, 2016.  Motion Carried. Wiley moved/Hertle seconded: Approve application for use of the Courthouse Grounds by Vinton Kiwanis Club for Saturday August 27, 2016.

Benton Co. Democrats to meet in Walford, June 21

The regular monthly meeting of the Benton County Democrats will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Walford Community Building in Walford at 120 Fifth Street N.  at 7:00PM.   Anyone interested in helping the Democrats with the election this fall is invited to attend.  Note the change of location this month.

Meet the Candidate: Joan Flecksing

Below is the candidate profile for District 3 Supervisor candidate Joan Flecksing, in the candidate's own words. Benton County Supervisor democratic candidate in District III, Joan Flecksing is 38 years old and resides in Walford with her husband, Bob Ford Jr., and their three children, Olivia, Zoey and Dominic. She was born in rural Toddville and as the youngest of twelve children, raised in agriculture by her hard working parents, Robert and Barbara, neither of whom had a high school education, but who stressed the value of education for their children.
