Reynolds announces lawsuit against DM Register to protect executive privilege

Governor Kim Reynolds has filed a lawsuit against the Des Moines Register to protect the use of executive privilege for all Iowa governors past, present, and future. “It is in the public’s interest that governors can receive candid advice from their closest advisors,” said Mason Mauro, spokesperson for Gov. Reynolds. “We are confident that the judicial branch will recognize that governors have a constitutional executive privilege in Iowa, just as they recognized a legislative privilege last year, and have used a deliberative privilege to protect the communications of Iowa Supreme Court justices.

Vinton man arrested in Evansdale store charged with claim of a fake robbery

On Sunday, a 19-year-old Vinton man was arrested for allegedly reporting a fake robbery at the Evansdale Kwik Star. This led to an evacuation of the store over the weekend. Dakota Voyle Mathews, was arrested on Sunday for the false report to law enforcement.The Waterloo Courier reported that   "according to court records, Mathews left his house with friends on Saturday and failed to return home for Easter on Sunday.
