Vinton Monuments workshop draws residents from five states

Fifty people descended on Maplewood Cemetery on Tuesday for the Vinton Monuments / Atlas Preservation cemetery preservation workshop. Jonathan Appell of Atlas Preservation in Southington,Connecticut lead the workshop.

There are many tasks that the water department attends to. One that I never thought about was the upkeep of the fire hydrants. To be honest I've never spent a lot of time thinking about fire hydrants at all.

Statewide Speed Awareness Day July 26

 Iowa’s 2023 daily traffic fatality count is over 20% higher than the 5-year average: an alarming trend. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is teaming up with law enforcement to keep drivers and passengers safe by raising awareness about the dangers of speeding and urging drivers to obey speed limits.

All Iowans, past and present, of all ages, who have created a lasting impact on lifelong learning are eligible for nomination—as are Iowa organizations—and anyone can submit a nomination.
