Trailer fire Wednesday Evening

On Wednesday evening, around 7:30 p.m. the Vinton Fire Department responded to a second fire report this week. The department was called to a trailer on fire in the Longview Terrace Mobile Home Park off of R Ave.

It's all about PPE and patients and new shoes and Thai ice cream today as the video worked and we were able to talk to Carli Lang and Lillie Lamont after their second week working in New Jersey with COVID-19 patients.

Downtown Prom will be held for V-S Graduates in June

In a statement from the Vinton-Shellsburg School, the school announced plans for the graduates for a "Downtown Prom." Students are invited dress up in the Prom attire or more comfortable clothing and attend the Prom in their cars.

Union High School’s spring musical production of “Bright Star” recently was informed by the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards that they are the recipients of 7 awards for this year’s production.

Kyle Reeve named Tilford Elementary School's New Principal

The Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District has chosen a new principal for Tilford Elementary School in Vinton. Kyle Reeve was a teacher in the Tipton Community School district for ten years before serving for the past two years as principal at Roundy Elementary in Columbus Junction.

Fire at McNeal Residence takes outbuilding but spares house

Accident leaves one utility pole down and car in the river
