The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is warning of a phone scam involving callers who target citizens by misrepresenting themselves as DCI staff.

State Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald is looking to reunite owners this Veteran’s Day with their lost and forgotten cherished treasurers. “In addition to money, we have an assortment of mementos from safe deposit box contents waiting to be reclaimed,” Fitzgerald said.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the death of Benton County Sheriff Leland Fry. A plaque was added this week to the bust of Sheriff Fry that stands in front of the northeast corner of the courthouse.
