It's just about that time of the year again! Time to lend Santa a hand! Each year, the Vinton Police Department, Sheriff's Department and sometimes the Iowa State Patrol lend their officers for a night of shopping with area children in preparation for Christmas.

Vinton-Shellsburg High School teacher Kelly Steffen has been selected as the Iowa Council for the Social Studies Teacher of the Year!This is a statewide  honor that recognizes Kelly’s exceptional work in bringing history, government, and civic engagement to life for her students.

Vinton Public Library to receive $10,000 gift as part of the Carnegie Libraries

On Wednesday, the Carnegie Corporation of New York announced that each Carnegie Libraries would receive $10,000 in celebration of the country's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
