Two arrests made in the death of toddler

The Vinton Police Department has released the following statement concerning the death of a 20-month-old, on September 22, 2024. It reads as follows."The Vinton Police Department, in cooperation with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Benton County Attorney's Office have arrested two individuals identified as Kaylee Morris (23), and Mason Morgan (24) in connection with a criminal investigation involving the death of a 20-month-old child.

Diveley Finally Doing the Time

On September 13, 2022, Shellsburg couple, Jeffrey Diveley, 65,and Stacy Diveley, 49, were first arrested on several crimes involving children. Records indicate that  he is currently serving a prison sentence, at the  Iowa Medical & Classification Center in Coralville.

Fire Prevention Week: Operation E.D.I.T.H. Thursday Night, Breakfast Sunday

The Vinton Fire Department will lead "Operation EDITH" this Thursday at 7:00 p.m., as part of Fire Prevention Week. The program, an acronym for Exit Drill In The Home, is a fire-safety initiative designed to encourage families, especially those with young children, to discuss and practice fire escape plans at home.
