Shellsburg Saves historic Gold Medal Flour Mural
The Shellsburg community came together in an effort to save this historic Gold Medal Flour Mural, in downtown Shellsburg. Artist Ed Callan of Ed Callahan Signs Unlimited and his friend Jeff King of Palo began the preparation for repainting the mural on Tuesday of last week and had started repainting the Gold Medal Flour Mural in downtown Shellsburg on Thursday, May 30.

Taryn Martin, a Vinton-Shellsburg sophomore, was selected to attend the 2024 Iowa Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Every year, one sophomore student in every Iowa public and private high school is chosen to attend.The Iowa HOBY annual leadership seminar is designed to prepare high school sophomores to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community.
