VanDeest makes late pass for Urbana 5 checkers at Benton County

Two last-lap passes and a photo finish provided for arguably the best night of racing so far this season at Benton County Speedway.
A field of 105 race teams assembled for Sunday's third annual Urbana 5 Memorial/Iowa Donor Network event, which celebrated the memory of five area youth killed in a traffic accident in Benton County.
Iowa State University announces spring 2017 Dean's List
More than 8,700 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2017 Dean's List.
Students named to the Dean's List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Have you registered for the 5th Annual Party in Pink? The event takes place Friday, June 23 at Riverside Park. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a Kids Fun Run, followed by the 5K and 1 mile walk/run at 6:00 p.m. Entertainment, food and fireworks complete the evening activities.

Eggert recognized as distinguished graduate
Morgan Eggert of Atkins, was recognized by Concordia University, Nebraska, as an undergraduate who graduated with distinction or high distinction honors based on academic achievements.
Nearly 10 percent of the undergraduate class have graduated with high distinction, and an additional six percent of the class have graduated with distinction.
