Stormin Vikings set 28 new personal best times at Grinnell Invitational swim meet

By Rob Levis, Coach The 2017 Vinton Shellsburg/CPU "Stormin' Vikings" continue to make significant strides early in the season. On Saturday the team registered 28new personal best times in finishing 7that the Grinnell Invitational in a field that included 4A powers Linn-Mar, Des Moines East, Indianola and Ottumwa.

Scholarship Gives 30 Iowa High School Seniors $2,000, Educates Them on College Borrowing and Personal Finance Registration is ongoing for a scholarship that offers Iowa high school seniors a chance to receive one of 30 scholarships worth $2,000 for college while learning important financial literacy skills.

VS School Board approves School Resource Officer agreement with city

Thanks to a grant program, the Vinton-Shellsburg School District and the Vinton Police Department will work together on a School Resource Officer Program, with a police officer assigned to the school to help with security and related issues.

2018 Benton Co. Fair to start June 27

The 2018 Benton County Fair will begin nearly a month earlier than it has typically taken place. The Benton County Extension Office has announced that the 2018 Fair will begin on Wednesday, June 27.
