EIHF Flight #30 To Take Flight

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017 the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will be taking Flight #30 to Washington, DC. This will be our last flight of 2017, and we plan on flying four more flights in 2018.

Two-vehicle accident closes Highway 218 Sunday

Authorities continue to investigate the crash that closed Highway 218 for an hour or two on Sunday. The Benton County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, Vinton Police Department, Vinton Fire Department and North Benton Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident causing only apparently minor injuries on Highway 218 northwest of Vinton on Sunday.

Three escape electrical fire in rural Vinton

Three females escaped an electrical fire caused in a laundry room Sunday evening southeast of Vinton. The Vinton, Shellsburg and Urbana fire departments responded to the Goersch residence on 60th Street Lane, where an electrical malfunction with a dryer and/or its wiring filled the home with smoke.

VPRD seeks public input and ideas with survey on city parks

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with its VintonPlays fund drive for a new splash pad and playground for Riverside Park, is seeking a long-term plan for all of Vinton's parks and nature areas.
