Parbs elected to Iowa Democratic State Central Committee

Rosemary Schwartz, member of the Iowa Democratic State Central Committee (SCC), and Benton Co. Democratic chair is pleased to announce that Shelly Parbs of rural Center Point was elected to the State Central Committee on Saturday, The special election was to fill two vacancies on the SCC from 1st District.

Police rescue man who had threatened to jump from Cedar River bridge

Area residents reported seeing the Highway 150 bridge closed and filled with the lights of emergency for a while shortly after nightfall on Sunday, as Vinton Police responded to a report of a person threatening to jump into the river from the bridge.
