New synthetic opioid drug threat recently discovered in Iowa

Virginia Gay Hospital and the Benton County Department of Public Health are passing along the following press release about synthetic pain pills in Iowa: The Iowa Department of Public Health, Department of Public Safety, Poison Control Center and Office of Drug Control policy issued an advisory today to warn Iowans of a new synthetic opioid drug threat recently discovered in Iowa.

Teenagers spared serious injury in three-vehicle accident

Five teenage girls escaped serious injury in a three-car accident on Highway 150 north of Vinton on Monday afternoon. A driver had stopped her sedan on the northbound lane, as the driver signaled a left turn onto 55th Street Drive, and waited for oncoming traffic.
