On Saturday, Feb. 6, 10 groups of Vinton-Shellsburg High School speech students performed at State Speech at Kennedy High School.

Seven groups earned I ratings and three groups earned II’s. The groups earning I’s were Choral Reading, Readers Theatre, One Act Play, Short Film, Radio Broadcasting, a Musical Theatre and a Group Improv. Group memebers involved were Lindsey Miller (OA & CR), Alyssa Bunge (MT & CR), Kendra Peterson (CR), Caitlyn Martin (CR), David Steele (RB & CR), Grant Noren (CR), Caleb Kruckenberg (MT & CR), Zach Stout (CR), Zach Boisen (CR), Jamie Thompson (RT & CR), Emily Reisch (GI & CR), Grace Milroy (GI & CR), Sarah Siglin (CR), Baylee Bruce (CR), Lily Horst (MT & CR), Taylor Berry (SF & RT), Rhianna Turner ( SF & RT), Celia Turner ( OA & RT), Kristin Halstead (RT), Jenna Lane (SF & RT), Kyle Jorgensen (MT & OA), Alex Dick (OA), Abby Scheel (OA), Dylan Geater (RB ), Logan Murray ( GI), Brittany Grendler (MT), & Hannah Haisman (MT).

The One Act Play received an additional honor as they were nominated to perform at the All State Festival in Ames on Feb. 20th. Only 8 schools are chosen to perform their One Act Play. Members of The VSHS One Act Play are: (left to right) Celia Turner, Abby Scheel, Lindsey Miller, Alex Dick & Kyle Jorgensen. This is the 1st One Act Play to perform at All-State in the history of Vinton-Shellsburg Speech.
