The V-S FACC fund drive for high school choir robes is going well, with $8,735 donated. The goal is $18,214.00. With three weeks to go, we are encouraged that this goal will be met. The V-S FACC wants to thank all the persons and businesses who have given gifts to the fund drive already. All who donate will be recognized at the end of the fund drive. There is room on the “Generous Donor List” for many more names.

The V-S FACC received a gift from Rhonda (Westergard) Henderson, former resident of Vinton, along with a note that read, ”Dear friends, We received a note from Lu Urlaub telling of your fundraising project. I’m sending a bit of encouragement along with our family’s donation. Thank you for all your efforts for all students—Past, Present, and Future. Our family benefitted from the V-S FACC in many ways. We would like to make a donation in loving memory of one of V-S FACC fans, Stan Westergard. Our family sends this gift with wishes for Good Luck in meeting your goals. Rhonda and Doug Henderson, Peter and Kate Ahn and family, John and Melissa Westergard and family.”

I asked Rhonda if I could use her note in an article because it said so much. What a lovely idea to make a donation in memory of someone who was a supporter of the fine arts and projects that benefitted the students. I like her reference to efforts for all students of the past, present and future. I would join Rhonda in encouraging all to consider a gift for all students of all times. A child who is currently enrolled in school right now could potentially wear these robes as a high school student. Please consider a donation on your child’s or grandchild’s behalf. I would encourage past students who are now adults to consider a gift. And we all should think about the benefits we have received because of music education in the schools—your favorite vocal artists, church choirs, wedding vocalists, choirs or individuals that perform the national anthem at sporting events or at Veteran’s Day programs. We invite and encourage you to lend your support to the students.

Please write your check to VCF/V-S FACC with the notation, “choir robes” and mail to:
