News : Body of Missing man recovered

On 5-26-2020, at about 7:44 PM, the Benton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a missing person at Wildcat Bluff county park. The missing person was Gerry Edwards, age 62, from the Urbana area. He was reported to have gone fishing at the park at about 1:00 PM and had not returned. His vehicle was found at the park. A search was conducted by boat and foot of the area and was halted due to darkness at about 10:30 PM The search would resume on the morning of 5-27-20 and the body of Edwards was located and recovered. Foul play is not suspected, and an autopsy is being conducted to determine the manner and cause of death. Assisting in the search were the; Urbana Fire Dept, Palo Fire Dept, Vinton Fire Dept, Shellsburg Fire Dept, Benton County Conservation, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Linn County Sheriff's Office. The incident remains under investigation.
