Fifteen members of the recently formed Vinton Shellsburg Alumni

football team held their first practice on Sunday, May 1 at the high

school football practice field.  The focus of this practice is the

upcoming game versus the Center Point Urbana Alumni football team on

Friday July 8 at 7:00 pm in Center Point.

Currently the team is comprised of players from many different classes

from 1983 to the class of 2010.  All former Vinton Shellsburg alumni

are encouraged to participate.  As of the first practice, the team has

27 players signed up with a goal of a roster of 40 or more set.  Dave

Boisen has volunteered to coach the team with assistant coaches to be

named soon as well.

This football game is being organized by Alumni Football USA.  Their

staff has been hosting alumni football games across the United States

for over 26 years.  Their philosophy is simple; reunite former high

school rivals in an unforgettable full contact football game, while

raising money for their former high school.  Alumni Football USA

provides the players with everything they need to play:  full

equipment, officials, announcers, emergency personnel and video

personnel.

Former players are encouraged to sign up.  To do so, visit the web

site www.AlumniFootballUSA.com and click on Iowa and Division 3A.
