PM September 28, 2011, 10:55 am The lack of information is \"intentional\"??? It seems the city needs to do a better job of communicating to the public. Everyone knows what clean-up week is, it seems it would be a public service to put out the guidelines, costs for appliances and etc. to drop off. Calling is sooo...last decade...get with it Vinton! We use this website to find out what\'s happening in town, except for what\'s happening in the city\'s department??? Come on, get with it guys!
MA September 28, 2011, 12:51 pm I agree with Patty. This protocol is just asking for further troubles and difficulties with people bringing things to the clean up area. If they are trying to discourage people from outside of Vinton from bringing things to the dump, perhaps they should require all people entering the dump to provide valid ID showing a Vinton residential address. That way they could turn away those who do not reside in the community.
Additionally, posting the fees associtated with appliances and other items would alleviate lots of confusion and questions.
K September 28, 2011, 1:38 pm I, too, must agree with Matt and Patty. In Waterloo you must show your ID to validate you are a resident of Waterloo. And people would like to know before the hassel of loading things exactly what is accepted and how much money, if necessary, they need to have with them. By not giving the residents of Vinton information and having them call in, we then disturb the staff at City Hall, which I am sure they don\'t appreciate. Maybe this needs to be rethought.
MB September 29, 2011, 2:35 pm In addition to these comments I must also express dismay that this information was not made known until two days before the event. At least is the first I have heard of it and I have been keeping an eye out for it. I do not have the luxury of owning a truck and must borrow one. This does not give me the time needed to do so and I will not be able to take advantage of this. Why can we not be like other municipalities that simply have you set your stuff at the curb on a scheduled garbage week?

Could Vinton Today maybe have an online calendar that shows these community events?

Ed: we are working on such an idea, it all costs money :) However, as soon as anything is sent to us, like the clean up, it goes on sometimes within minutes, so that would at least help...
