The Mt. Auburn-Cedar Fire Department conducted training at the Mike and Shelley Lutz farm, south of Mount Auburn.

The fire department used a smoke machine to fill the house with smoke to simulate what the conditions would be during a true house fire.

They were also able to perform a search and rescue which involved firefighters going into the house, finding a victim and getting them out of the structure safely.

During the drill they were able to practice evacuations from multiple floors, practice breaking through walls in case of a collapse or blocked exit, and navigating charged hose lines through a structure.

"The skills we practiced are what we need to stay fresh in our training, but hope we never have to use." said Training Officer Blake Hesson.

During this week of Fire Prevention, do your part, check your smoke detectors, and hopefully you'll never need these guys to show up!
