Marcia Rose (Boddicker) Dircks

Marcia Rose (Boddicker) Dircks was lifted by the hands of her Lord on Monday, September 25, 2023 to join her family in heaven.Marcia was born at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 11, 1948. She was welcomed by her parents Cyril and Luella Boddicker of Newhall, Iowa. When she arrived home she was greeted by her big sister, Dorothy Lou Bodddicker.

Gladys D. Hopper

Gladys D. Hopper, 88, of Washburn, died Friday, August 11, 2023, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.She was born May 26, 1935, in Aurora, the daughter of Carl and Margaret Martin Bird. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1953. She married Keith E. Hopper on June 26, 1954, in Aurora. She worked at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo until starting a family.

Christina “Chris” JoRae (Pippert) Hendryx

Christina "Chris" JoRae (Pippert) Hendryx, age 62, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.A Celebration of Chris's life will be held on Monday October 2, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the American Legion Hall located at 105 North R Ave in Vinton, IA.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Patricia Ann Detling

Patricia Ann Detling, age 68, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at University Hospitals and Clinics, following a short battle with cancer.A Celebration of Patricia’s life will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Cancer Center or the Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Eleanora M. "Nora" Beahr

Eleanora M. "Nora" Beahr, 100, of La Porte City, formerly Waterloo, died on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the La Porte City Specialty Care at La Porte City.Nora was born on August 9, 1923, in Oelwein, IA, the daughter of Tom and Marie "Fern" Jacoby Boleyn. She married George Allen Beahr in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1979.She worked as an inspector for Chamberlain Manufacturing.

James A. (Jim) Jackson

James A. (Jim) Jackson, 66, passed away Friday September 22, after an extended illness. Jim was born April 27,1957 to Ray F. and Joyce L. Jackson in Vinton, Iowa. He loved to play the drums and attend concerts. After moving to Florida he established a successful painting business in Sarasota and also in Wear's Valley Tennessee.With some orthopedic injuries, he was confined to a wheelchair the last 15 years of his life.

Wineva ‘Eve’ Mahr

Wineva ‘Eve’ Mahr passed on September 21, 2023.  Eve was a loving wife and mother, a respected Deacon in the Episcopal church, and a 50 year member of Kappa Delta Phi civic sorority.  She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1963.She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Pederson, and survived by her husband Steve,  children Derek and Sarah (Chris) Confessore, grandchildren Tessa and Zella, mother Wineva Pederson, and siblings Denny (Cheryl), Sally (Jim Autry), Steve (Carol) and Alan (Julie).

Jill Kay Nicholson

Jill Kay Nicholson3/16/81 - 9/21/23Jill closed her eyes on September 21st, 2023 surrounded by her family and friends and opened them to the glorious sight of her loving Father. She was a resident of Newport, Tennessee, and formally Marseilles, Illinois. She was born in Toledo, Iowa on March 16th, 1981. Her parents Roger and Kim Junge have always had tremendous pride and love for this beautiful, joy filled woman of faith.

Jerry Lee Usher

Jerry Lee Usher, 81, passed away at his residence Wednesday, September 20, 2023, following a brief illness. Private family services will be held. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Jerry and his family.Jerry was born April 2, 1942, in Center Point, the son of Levitt “Ted” and Lola Mae (Johnson) Usher. He attended school in Center Point and Vinton.

Jackie Raye Schirmer Lewis, 75, of Shellsburg, passed away September 14, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 14 from 5 to 8 p.m., at the American Legion Hall, 114 Main Street SW, Shellsburg.Memorials may be made in Jackie's name to her family.
