Terry Cranston
Terry Cranston, 84, passed away on February 18, 2024, at Kansas City Hospice House after a long illness. Terry was born in Vinton, Iowa on March 27, 1939, to Robert and Irene Cranston of Van Horne, Iowa. He was a big brother to Tom and Holly, and he cherished that role. When he was in the fifth grade the family moved to Atkins, Iowa. Terry missed Van Horne and always considered it his home.
Lillian Winslow
Lillian Winslow, age 96, went home to be with her Lord on February 19, 2024.Lillian was born on March 16, 1927, to Burdette and Jennie Koch Beck on the family farm north of Belle Plaine, Iowa. She was the oldest of 6 children. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State College in Ames for 2 years.On April 25, 1948, Lillian was united in marriage to Louis Winslow in the Christ United Methodist Church, Belle Plaine.
Caleb Nicholas Enos
Caleb Nicholas Enos, 21, of Waterloo, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at First Christian Church, Vinton, with Brad Shockley officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Jeffrey “Jeff” Joel Fisher
Jeffrey “Jeff” Joel Fisher, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Harmony Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte City, with Father Anthony Nketiah as Celebrant. Friends may visit with family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.
Duane John Yung
Duane John Yung, 84, of Toledo and formerly of Clutier, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Unity Point Health-Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian burial was on held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Walter Dale Cook
Walter Dale Cook, 87, of Walker, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa, assisted the family.Walter was born July 6, 1936, in rural Palo, Iowa, the son of Harold and Delores (Rouse) Cook. He graduated from Urbana High School, Class of 1955.
James Charles Chekal
James Charles Chekal, 89, passed away on Monday, February 5. A resident of Belle Plaine, Iowa, James was born on February 14, 1934, to James Chekal and Ella Bayzn.James obtained an associate's degree through the Air Force. From January 1954 to February 1974, he worked on ground support equipment that maintained aircraft. He also owned and operated Jim's appliance until his retirement.
Wanda Carleen Campbell
Wanda Carleen Campbell, 70, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Central City, Iowa, passed peacefully into eternity in her sleep on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton. After many years of a brave and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, Wanda is now “out of her own little world and back into the lives of others!” A private celebration of life will be held later.
John Mayhew
John Mayhew, 67, of Vinton, passed away at his beloved home on the river surrounded by his wife and girls on Monday, February 12, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton with Rev. Brian Channel officiating.
Ramona Jean Boeckmann
Ramona Jean Boeckmann, 90, of La Porte City, died Saturday, February 10, 2024, at La Porte City Specialty Care. She was born June 23, 1933, in Iowa, daughter of Walter and Adelia (Knief) Eickelberg. Raised by her Aunt Dora and Uncle Arnold Matthias. She graduated from Denver High School. She married Norman H. "Norm" Boeckmann on November 29, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
