Donna Mae Carlson, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, November 28, 2024. A visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids.Donna was born November 15, 1935, in Braham, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Elsie (Swanson) Strelow. She graduated from Braham High School.

Roger Midthun

Roger Midthun, of Anamosa, formerly of Vinton, passed away at the age of 75 on Friday, November 22, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha after a long series of health challenges and a short but valiant battle with cancer which stemmed from Agent Orange exposure during his time served in Vietnam. His loss leaves a hole that cannot be filled.

Wayne Bruce Petersen

Wayne Bruce Petersen, 77, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Lake Regional Hospital. He was born October 23, 1947, in Vinton, Iowa, a son of Lloyd Charles and Dorothy Ann (Junge) Petersen, both deceased. He was a graduate of Dysart High School and the University of Iowa.Wayne started his work life as a bank examiner before moving on to farming.

Gerald "Butch" Edward Thoman

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gerald "Butch" Edward Thoman, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was surrounded by family at his home on the Thoman Century Farm. Gerald was born January 15, 1933, in Norway, Iowa to Donald E. and Alma S. (Oftedahl) Thoman. Gerald attended Norway Schools. He was a Private First Class in the United States Army Engineers after attending basic training in Fort Leonard, Missouri.

Brian Scott Bratten

     Brian Scott Bratten, 62, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following multiple medical issues.     Brian was born August 26, 1962 in Oelwein to Emil and Joyce (Grantham) Bratten.  Brian grew up in Vinton, where he attended Washington High School and was a member of the wrestling team.

Shirley Anne Martin

Shirley Anne Martin, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, following complications of a stroke.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, is caring for Shirley’s family.Shirley was born March 15, 1934, in Amarillo, TX, the daughter of Howard and Josephine (Ross) Dees.
