Eileen F. Hakeman

Eileen F. Hakeman was born April 6, 1941, the daughter of Ben and Olive (Khrounek) Popelka. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1959. Eileen was united in marriage to Arlen Hakeman on June 19, 1961, in Belle Plaine. She worked at the Landmark for 16 years and later helped sorting corn at Holden’s. Eileen enjoyed being a mother to their children and helping Arlen on the farm, (especially driving the tractors).

Leo Charles Mangold Jr.

Leo Charles Mangold Jr., age 93, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Newton Health Care Center in Newton, Iowa. Leo was born on July 14, 1931, in Washington, IA, the son of Leo Charles and Jessie (Hesseltine) Mangold.  Following High School, Leo served his Country in the United States Army, during the Korean War.  In 1973, he was united in marriage to Rosemary “Rosie” Rodenhofer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Edwin H. McVay

Edwin H. McVay, 87, of rural Urbana, passed away December 25, 2024. A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2025, with the funeral following at 3:00 PM, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.Edwin was born on October 16, 1937, in Viola, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Marie (Furler) McVay. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jane Attwood on June 9, 1957, in Walker, Iowa.

Robert M. George

Robert M. George, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and community member, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the age of 96.Born in Vinton, Iowa, on July 14, 1928, to Jesse M. and A. Irene (Wilson) George, Bob spent his early years in Brandon, Iowa, where his family operated George Grocery and Hardware Store. A lover of the outdoors and photography, Bob spent his youth helping at the family store, delivering newspapers, and developing photos for the school annual.

Dan Jay Coulter

Dan Jay Coulter, 91, passed away on December 16, 2024. He was born on July 31, 1933, to Warren and Marie (Grudgings) Coulter, of What Cheer, Iowa. He married Annette Cox on June 23, 1955, and raised four sons in Reinbeck, Iowa. Dan farmed all his life and enjoyed fishing and traveling with Annette. His great passion and pride were his family, with annual reunions at home being especially important.

Matthew William Daily

Matthew William Daily, 34, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away suddenly following health issues at home Monday, December 23, 2024. Matthew was born August 12, 1990 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Bill and Marcia (Adams) Daily. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School the class of 2009. Following high school Matt went to Kirkwood Community College and graduated from their Automotive Collison Repair program.

William E. “Bill” Seely

William E. “Bill” Seely. 78. Died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 30 at Oak Grove Church in Shellsburg with Pastor Matt Magee officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 AM until service time also at the church.

Barbara Sue “Bobbie” (Robinson) Rinderknecht

Barbara Sue “Bobbie” (Robinson) Rinderknecht, age 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, with her family by her side.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Atkins, with Rev. Jeff Schanbacher officiating.  The family will greet friends from 9:00 until 10:45 AM, Tuesday, also at the church.

William (Bill) Kammrath

Born to William and Ellen Kammrath in Chicago on October 8th, 1942, William (Bill) Kammrath stepped into the quiet woods of eternity on Monday, December 23rd, 2024. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 30, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, Iowa with a reception to follow.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.

Evelyn Frances Mack

Evelyn Frances Mack was born February 11, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Bohumil and Agnes Hodina.  Evelyn married Everett Mack March 29, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale located in Nashua, Iowa.   Evelyn first spent her married life in Garrison and Vinton, Iowa moving to Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1961.  Everett and Evelyn owned the Club Tap Room and the Friendly Tavern during the 1960s in Fort Morgan.
