ATKINS: LaDean Meta (Glandorf) Haerther, 74, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Atkins. Friends may call at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins from 3 to 7 p.m, on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Stephen's Lutheran Choir or L.W.M.L.
LaDean was born November 28, 1938 near Williamsburg to Arthur and Meta (Wardenburg) Glandorf and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1956.
On June 12, 1959 she was united in marriage to Roger Haerther at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Williamsburg. The couple farmed in the Atkins and Shellsburg areas.
LaDean was an active member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of L.W.M.L, the choir and the Nimble Fingers quilting group. She was also a Red Hat Lady and enjoyed square dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Bonnie (Patrick) Thompson of
Wadsworth, OH, Connie (Jeff) McQuiston of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Vikki Bell) Haerther of Springville, Rodney (Julie) Haerther of Shellsburg; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her brother, Derald (June) Glandorf of Williamsburg; many nieces and nephews and her furry favorite, Licorice.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Rosa Posekany.
