Joel Scott Meek, 43, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Scott was born August 15, 1970 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Joel and Janet Hagge Meek.
Scott is survived by his mother, Janet of Buckingham; sister, Diana (Dennis) Bramow, Vinton; brother, Larry, Buckingham and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joel and brother, Ron.
Having been a diabetic for 36 years it was Scott’s wish to donate his body to the University for research in hopes that through him others will be able to learn and share their knowledge. Memorials may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDFR.org) or the Northeast Iowa Foodbank.
