VINTON: Melvin L. Vogt, 80, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery near Vinton.

The public is invited to a Celebration of Melvin's life and a dinner will be held beginning at 4:30 PM, Friday, June 27th at the US Bank Community Bldg.

Melvin was born February 12, 1934 at Shellsburg to Lewis Fredrick and Alma May (Berger) Vogt.

On July 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Rachael Noe at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1995.

Melvin was employed at Vinton Produce for six years and as an auto mechanic at Ervin Motors for twenty years and at Junge Ford for five years prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids and great-grandkids giving out candy bars and sodas. Melvin often spent his time cruising around Vinton.

He is survived by his daughters, Leona Dulin of Cedar Rapids and Regina (Dustin) Maser of Vinton; his grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Dimmig, Brandy Bell, Rachelle (Josh) Hendryx, Jacob Rammelsberg, Jordan Rammelsberg, Alex (Stephanie) Geiger, Zackeray Fennern (fiancee, Jess), Tyler Fennern and Baylee "Grandma" Fennern; his great grandchildren, Chloe Sutton, Gannon Dimmig, Taylor Dimmig and Kaydyn and Kollyn Hendryx.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tonya Scott his great-granddaughter, Macy Bell; two brothers; and four sisters.
