Annette Louise Coulter was born on April 27, 1937, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Ronald and Marjorie (Stevens) Cox. She grew up in Marshalltown and Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School. On June 23, 1955, Annette was united in marriage to Dan Coulter in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They farmed for three years in What Cheer, Iowa. In 1961, they moved to Lincoln, Iowa to continue farming, and moved to Traer in 2002. Annette worked at Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company in Traer for twenty years. She was also an owner of Cedar Valley Bank and Trust in La Porte City. Seven weeks after her retirement, Annette suffered a severe stroke. She gracefully lived with the side effects for the last fourteen years. Dan lovingly took care of her during that time so she could stay at home. Annette and Dan enjoyed many winters together in Texas. She also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling in their motor home. Annette was a great cook and a joyful person to be around. Her family was the most important part of her life, especially her four boys; they were her pride and joy. Annette and Dan were members of the Traer United Presbyterian Church. Annette died at the age of 77 on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. She was preceded in death by her parents. Annette is survived by her husband; four sons, David (Donna) of Garrison, Brent (Ingrid) of Traer, Matthew (Kim) of West Des Moines, and Chris (Denise) of Reinbeck; a sister, Marilyn (Don) Fynn of Agency; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Annette will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
