Dennis D. Hertle
ATKINS: Dennis D. Hertle, 72 of Atkins, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at home following a sudden illness.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 1 – 3 PM at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue in Vinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy of Atkins; his children, Michael of Cedar Rapids, Michelle (James) Comisky and Melissa all of Atkins; his grandson, T.J. Comisky of Atkins; his sister, Francine (Daryl) Daker of Cedar Rapids; his sisters-in-law, Judy Hertle of Newhall, Becky Mikesell of Cedar Rapids; his brother-in-law, Bill Blough of Branson, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
Dennis was born November 23, 1942 in Vinton the son of Clarence and Elfrieda (Fiebelkorn) Hertle. He graduated from Newhall High School in 1960 and married Sandra S. Blough on June 19, 1965.
Dennis retired in 2007 following a career in a variety of sales positions. He enjoyed country music, attending over 100 Statler Brothers concerts, sports, watching races and especially enjoyed watching his grandson’s activities. Dennis always had a joke to share with others.
Memorials may be directed to the Atkins Volunteer Fire Department/First Responders.
