Jon Gorski, AC0OQ, 71, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Jon was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Norbert and Esther Gorski. Jon's life was very active over the years. He was a radio engineer/host, pilot, electrical engineer and Collins tech. He worked in blacktop and cement paving, sand and rock business, well drilling (oil/water/gas) and helped build tugboats. He had an interest in ships on the Great Lakes. He also was a train engineer, master mechanic for railroads, and did consulting and towing.
His hobbies over the years included the Mount Pleasant Old Threshers, Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, and having his amateur radio license. He was active in the Noon Forum on 40 meters, Benton County Club/Net and CVARC in Cedar Rapids.
Jon had lots of business associates and friends. Thanks to all.
Jon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Gorski; one daughter, Joan; his three grandsons: Josh, Nic and Alex; and one brother, Brian Gorski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Scott Gorski.
