Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Ann Berry, 76, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab, Vinton, following a lengthy illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vinton, with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant.  Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the church.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Vinton.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Mary Ann and her family. 
Mary Ann was born June 24, 1949, in Vinton, the daughter of Merle and Philomena (Becker) Carlson.  She attended school in Vinton, graduating from Washington High School in 1967.  On August 21, 1971, Mary Ann was united in marriage to John M. Berry at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vinton.  While her career included many roles, her greatest joy was being a loving wife and mother. 
Leisure activities for Mary Ann included sewing, gardening, shopping, bus trips, reading, going to garage sales, participating in card club, watching the Hallmark channel, and helping others. 
Left to cherish Mary Ann's memory are her husband of 53 years, John of Vinton; children: Mike (Lori) Berry of Cedar Falls, Jeremy (Karen) Berry of West Allis, WI, Sarah (Aaron) Meyer of Conroy, and Ryan Berry of Vinton; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Karen) Carlson, Mt. Vernon; sisters: Edith Williams, and Dolores (Walter) Plotz of Swisher; and several other family members. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Carlson; sisters: Mildred Plotz, and Pearl Serovy; and brothers-in-law: Roger Williams, Martin Plotz, and Allan Serovy.
