VINTON: Lori Schlarbaum Kimm, 46, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. A Scripture Service will begin at 8 p.m.. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Lori was born November 22, 1965 at Cedar Rapids to Roger and Joyce (Abernathy) Schlarbaum and graduated from Vinton's Washington High School in 1985. She then graduated from the American College of Hairstyling and has owned and operated "Loris' Barber Shop" in Vinton since 2000.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton and loved camping, gardening, and playing golf. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with family and friends and attending her son, Jared's sporting events.
Her memory will be cherished by her special friend, Todd Rosonke of Vinton; her daughter, Kelsey Kimm and son , Jared Kimm, both of Vinton; her parents, Roger and Joyce Schlarbaum of Vinton; her brothers, Kevin (Jackie) Schlarbaum of Mt. Auburn, and Scott Schlarbaum of Vinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her nephew, Brent Schlarbaum.
Lori will be remembered for her cheerful personality, her infectious laugh and her kind nature.
