BLAIRSTOWN:

Ronald “Butch” Gene Voss, 62, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 30th at the Legion Hall in Blairstown. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Blairstown Legion Hall with Pastor Matthews of Bible Baptist Church in Ottumwa officiating. The Service will be followed by Military Rites conducted by the M.J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 of Blairstown. Interment will be held at Pleasant Point Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial fund has been established.

Ronald was born February 26, 1951 at Cedar Rapids to Alfred and Maxine (Carroll) Voss. He served his nation in the U.S. Army from 1971 until being discharged from the Army Reserves in 1977. Ronald was a member of the M.J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 of Blairstown.

He and his wife, owned and operated Butch and Cindy’s Bar and Grill in Blairstown and he was employed as a driver at Kimm’s Ready Mix in Blairstown. In his leisure he enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, gardening and music. He loved time spent with his children and grandchildren and his dog Effie. Ronald especially enjoyed going on road trips with his wife on beautiful days.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Blairstown; his children, Joe, Keith, Chris, Sandy, Sarah, Tarah, and Kelly; several grandchildren; his twin brother, Rick; and his sisters, Diana and Donna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.
