Last week, I wrote about what it's like on a day when there is no news.

See that story, if you have not already seen it, HERE.

Today seems to be a day very much like that one. Other than having a few holiday event photos, and a news release about wind power at an area utility, today's news is pretty quiet.

And after the week we've had, it's a welcome change. The smoke still slowly rises from what used to be my neighbor's house. People are still commenting about the immigration case involving local restaurant owners. We still have some of the first snow to remove from our driveway; I prefer to wait until the wind chill is above zero.

But as far as we know, there's nothing major going on at this very moment. In spite of what the lack of news does to the number of readers at Vinton Today, right now, I am enjoying the break.

But, as we learned since last Friday, the break never last long enough.

BF December 18, 2010, 12:58 am Your slow news days are still a day or two ahead of your competitors and a joy to read daily. I like \"that\'s the facts, folks\" approach you bring to each article. I admire your attention to the little students and their activities, They are just as or more important than all the sports stories in the other papers. I\'m sure they rush home from school and wait for your news to be available on your web. Keep up the good work, you two, as so many people also appreciate your hard work.
Thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
