Vann Lessig and Kylee Kirchner State Champion Bowlers We have exciting news to share. Today was the state individual bowling tournament. It is a feat just to qualify for the tournament. Once there, you have to bowl three games and only the top eight scores make theĀ finals bracket. Kylee Kirchner qualifiedĀ at the 7th seed and Vann Lessig qualified as the 8th seed. Both Kylee and Vann have won the individual title today, they are state champions!šŸŽ³Ā Congratulations to Coach Pattee, Coach Kirchner and all of the bowlers on a historic season.

Vinton-Shellsburg Archery Team sends Two to State

The Vinton-Shellsburg Archery team kicked off their 2023-2024 season in late October of 2023. The archery team is an after-school program, meaning they are not funded by the school and run solely on entry fees and donations. In order for the after school program to be allowed and honored by the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), students have to engage in a two-week curriculum during school hours.

Izaak Walton League Red Cedar Chapter to host BB Gun shoot on Saturday

The  Izaak Walton League Red Cedar Chapter will host a BB Gun shoot. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17. Izaak Walton is located at 5667 24th Ave. Dr. in Vinton.Bring your children and learn the fundamentals of firearms safety in a fun and controlled environment. We will have a certified firearms instructor giving a brief lesson on weapons safety followed by some indoor live fire.

Vinton-Shellsburg's Lessig earns a place at State

The Vinton-Shellsburg Boys Bowling team completed yesterday to move onto the state tournament.  We gave it everything we had, but the Clark High School squad took home 1st Place.  Our Vinton Shellsburg boys finished second as a team and Vann Lessig finished in 3rd place to earn his spot at State.We are so proud of all our boys for being great young adults even in when things donā€™t fall into place as they hoped.

Vinton-Shellsburg Girls Bowling State Qualifiers

Individual qualifiers: Tori Richart, Sammie Lundvall, Kylee Kirchner Our tickets are punched!Yesterday, the Girls' bowling team competed in Ames at the state qualifying meet and punched their ticket to compete at the state tournament.Only four individuals at each location have the ability to qualify as individual competitors. Vinton Shellsburg took home three of the four spots!The Boy's team will be competing today in Osceola.

Stormin' Vikings District Swim Meet

The Storminā€™ Vikings will continue their run of state appearances after a strong performance Saturday at Linn-Mar in the District Swim Meet.Ā  The Medley Relay team of Wes Farrell, Brayden Beck, Broden Farrell, and James DeSmet finished third at the meet and earned the 21stĀ position in the state.Ā  This marks the fourth consecutive year the team has qualified for this relay.
