Vinton Country Club Hosts Successful Memorial Day 4-Person Best Shot Tournament

The Vinton Country Club welcomed 27 teams of golfers from across the area for its annual Memorial Day 4-Person Best Shot Tournament, held throughout the holiday weekend. The popular event allowed participants to enjoy the course at their own pace, with no scheduled tee times, fostering a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere for players of all skill levels.

CPU Stormin' Pointers Mascot home to the Best in the Country

Back in 1989, the Center Point School District and the Urbana School District merged. Center Point's mascot was a dog, a Pointer. Urbana had a cyclone for theirs. The two schools also merged their mascots into a winning design, the Stormin' Pointers. It was announced that the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers took the trophy for having the Best School Mascot in the country.

Makinnley Dulin Earns State Champion Title in Traditional Sparring

Vinton has plenty to be proud of when it comes to young Makinnley Dulin.Makinnley, daughter of Frankie and Jessica Dulin, granddaughter of Allan and Teresa Merchant and Conneye Dulin, and great-granddaughter to Donna Merchant and Sharron Schminke, This gal has been making quite a name for herself in the world of martial arts. Since May 2024, Makinnley has been training with Samurai Family Martial Arts out of Cedar Rapids.

The Vinton Lions Club will hold their Annual Pickleball Tournament – Battle for the Paddle on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Join us for a fun, fundraising, recreational round-robin doubles tournament! Central Lutheran School Basketball Team Qualifies for National Tournament

The Central Lutheran School (CLS) Varsity Boys Basketball team recently qualified for the 77th Annual Lutheran Basketball National Tournament, hosted by the Lutheran Basketball Association of America (LBAA) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from March 27-30, 2025. The prestigious tournament brought in over 2,300 visitors from across the country, including 32 boys' teams, 25 girls' teams, and 6 cheerleading squads.
