Olson, Cordes top Urbana 5 make-up features at Benton County Speedway
One week was worth the wait for Kyle Olson and Troy Cordes. The July 14 Urbana 5 Memorial program was cut short due to rain, forcing the postponement of the headlining events to July 21 at Benton County Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were the top attraction for the 10th annual event with a $1,500-to-win 20-lap feature.
Make-up features plus full show on tap Sunday at The Bullring
Those unable to attend the July 14 Urbana 5 Memorial will still have the chance to see the stars shine Sunday at Benton County Speedway. The special main events for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods fell to rain last weekend and have been rescheduled for this Sunday, July 21.
Big payouts, great cause this Sunday at Benton County Speedway’s 10th Urbana 5
Benton County Speedway marks a milestone event this Sunday, hosting the 10th annual Urbana 5 Memorial. Five IMCA sanctioned divisions are on the card for the July 14 special, held to remember the five area youth killed in a 2015 traffic accident near Urbana, and to encourage people to become organ and tissue donors. An Iowa Donor Network representative will be located in a booth under the grandstand at The Bullring that evening.
Sprint Invaders headline this Sunday at Benton County Speedway
The Sprint Invaders are returning to Benton County Speedway. The 360 sprint car tour will be in action this Sunday, July 7 at Benton County Speedway for its second and final appearance of the season. Paul Nienhiser topped a field of 18 sprints in the series’ first appearance of the season at The Bullring on May 5. IMCA Weekly Racing will comprise the balance of the night’s action and will feature IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.
Mix of new, repeat winners highlight action at Benton County Speedway
A pair of first-time winners were joined by four return visitors to victory lane Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Nearly 130 cars signed in to compete on a full night of racing at The Bullring. Ethan Braaksma earned his first Vinton win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main. From a fourth row start, Braaksma ran the high side into the lead at around midway of the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper.

The 2024 Benton County Fair is ready to welcome the masses this week.If you’re a car or motorsports enthusiast, it’ll be well worth the trip to the Benton County Fairgrounds June 20-22. The second annual car show will kick things off Thursday, June 20, in Vinton. Held in front of the grandstand, individuals are invited to show off their cars, trucks, bikes or race cars for a small registration fee of $15.
