Union football: Knights honor leaders, present many awards at recognition ceremony

Coach Hadachek honored the 2017 Union football captains: Carter Brehm, Koby Alpers, Jace Glenn and Troy Hanus. Union's football team gathered for one final time in 2017 to celebrate the successes of the season, award players for a variety of achievements, and to thank the many people who helped as Union returned to the UNI-Dome as one of the four final teams in Class 2A.

Berry leads VS bowlers in season opener at Independence

Vikette varsity bowlers pose for a photo before winning their first meet of the season. Taylor Berry led the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes to a win in their first bowling contest of the season Friday in Independence, repeating a feat she accomplished early last season: Rolling a higher score than all of her female opponents as well as all of the boys.

Freshman Schoettmer begins college bowling season well; leads team with 9th place finish at 5 Seasons

Jordan Schoettmer with Clarke Bowling Coach Andrew Gonner on Oct. 21, 2016. Exactly one year after putting on a Clarke College t-shirt and sitting with his parents and coaches and officially signing to attend college and bowl at Clarke, Jordan Schoettmer joined his team in making the journey from Dubuque to Cedar Rapids, where he competed against more than 130 bowlers from seven college teams, including Iowa and Mount Mercy, in the annual Five Seasons Classic.
